The city of San Francisco needed to preserve the St Francis sculpture due to the re-development of candlestick point after the stadium was demolished. Nichols Concrete Cutting was hired by Atthowe Fine Art Services to saw cut the concrete slab around the footing, demo and remove the concrete paving, excavate the soil down around, and to core drill 18” round core holes x ten feet deep through the bottom of the pedestal so structural I beam support could be installed, upon completing the structural sculpture bracing by Atthowe was completed the cranes had control of the sculpture the remaining foundation was wired sawed just below the pedestal and the sculpture was freed and lowered onto transport truck for storage.
